Description
Authentic East German (NVA) Army Officer's cap device, consisting of the classic silver oak-leaf wreath surrounding the enameled DDR national cockade. This is the same insignia worn on officers' visor caps by the Nationale Volksarmee ground forces and the Grenztruppen (Border Guard) until German reunification in 1990 — a piece of genuine Cold War militaria that consistently moves for surplus shops, collectors, and reenactor suppliers.
The device is struck in lightweight silver-tone aluminum with crisp, deeply detailed oak leaves arranged in the traditional wreath pattern. At the center sits the round DDR cockade with the hammer, compass, and ring of rye in red, black, and gold enamel — the unmistakable emblem of the German Democratic Republic. Prong fittings on the reverse allow the device to be mounted directly to a visor cap band.
