Description
Genuine East German (NVA) Navy gold metal rank bars, sold as a matched pair, ready for application to enlisted shoulder boards. These original-issue "Litzen" bars were worn by sailors of the Volksmarine and the Naval Border Guard (Grenzbrigade Küste) to denote rank, and they remain one of the most recognizable insignia details on Cold War-era East German naval uniforms.
Each bar is formed from lightweight stamped aluminum with a deeply textured, faceted gold-tone face that catches light from every angle — the same diamond-cut pattern used on period-issue insignia. Because they are unissued surplus pulled from old NVA stocks, they arrive crisp and bright, with no field wear. The reverse is plain and flat, making them straightforward to mount on shoulder boards or display boards.
Who Buys These
A strong, low-cost add-on item for any shop serving Cold War militaria collectors, NVA and Volksmarine reenactors, uniform restorers, and surplus enthusiasts building out authentic East German kit. They also move well as small impulse purchases alongside East German shoulder boards, caps, and tunics.
