Description
Bring genuine Cold War history to your shelves with this 100-piece assortment of original East German (NVA / DDR) textile insignia. Sourced from surplus stocks and supplied in unissued, new-old-stock condition, this bulk lot is a ready-made goldmine for militaria collectors, reenactors, costume designers, and surplus enthusiasts who can never get enough authentic Eastern Bloc material.
Each assortment is a mixed grab-bag drawn from the full spectrum of DDR service branches — Nationale Volksarmee (NVA) Land Forces, Volksmarine (Navy), Luftstreitkräfte (Air Force), Grenztruppen (Border Troops), Volkspolizei, and elite units such as the Wachregiment "Friedrich Engels". Expect a vibrant mix of shoulder boards, collar tabs, sleeve titles, cuff bands, trade and specialty patches, rank insignia, and armbands in a wide variety of colors, branch piping, and embroidery styles.
What's in the Lot
- 100 pieces total, randomly assorted — no two lots identical
- Officer and enlisted shoulder boards with bullion, braided cord, and woven rank construction
- Collar tabs (Kragenspiegel) in branch colors: infantry white, border-troop green, artillery red, signals yellow, medical, and more
- Embroidered cuff titles including "Grenztruppen der DDR" and "Wachregiment Friedrich Engels"
- Volksmarine specialty and trade patches with anchor, propeller, and crossed-cannon devices
- Volkspolizei (Schutzpolizei) badges, sleeve shields, and rank slides
- Red sentry / duty armbands and assorted bullion and woven decorative pieces
Construction & Authenticity
These are genuine military-issue textiles, not reproductions. Insignia feature embroidered wool felt, woven rayon, metallic bullion thread, and stamped-foil rank pips on stiffened backings — exactly as produced for DDR service uniforms before reunification. Pieces are unissued surplus and display crisp colors and sharp embroidery.
Why It Sells
DDR militaria is one of the most actively collected categories in the surplus market, and authentic pre-1990 textile insignia is becoming increasingly difficult to source. A 100-piece bulk lot lets retailers break the assortment down for individual resale at strong margins, build display boards, supply theatrical and film productions, or offer collectors a "lucky-dip" mystery pack. The colorful mix also appeals to fashion-forward buyers who repurpose authentic patches onto jackets, caps, and bags.
Ideal Customers
- Militaria collectors and Cold War / DDR specialists
- Reenactors and living-history groups
- Film, TV, and theatrical costumers
- Surplus shops offering grab-bags and mystery lots
- Vintage-fashion and patch-customization customers
Note: As a randomly assorted surplus lot, the exact ranks, branches, and piece types will vary from bag to bag. This unpredictability is part of the appeal for collectors hunting for that elusive insignia.
