Description
The German Repro M24 Stielhandgranate — better known to collectors and GIs alike as the "potato masher" — is one of the most instantly recognizable small arms of both World Wars. This faithful, fully non-functional reproduction captures the look, proportions, and period markings of the original German stick grenade, making it a strong-selling display piece for surplus shops, militaria dealers, and anyone serving collectors, reenactors, or film and theater customers.
Built around a turned hardwood handle and a steel head finished in matte field grey, the replica reads as authentic at arm's length and rewards close inspection too. The head carries the correct German stencil "Vor Gebrauch Sprengkapsel einsetzen" ("Insert detonator before use") along with the Sk. Do 11.12. filler marking, just as wartime examples did. A porcelain activation knob threads into the base of the handle, exactly as on the originals — a detail that serious collectors look for and that sets this piece apart from cheaper resin novelties.
Why It Sells
The M24 is iconic. It appears in virtually every WWII film, video game, and documentary, which means demand reaches far beyond hardcore militaria buyers. Reenactors of Wehrmacht, Heer, and WWI Imperial German impressions need a safe, inert grenade for kit displays and field events. Collectors want a museum-quality piece they can handle without risking an original. Movie and theater armorers need a safe prop. And a steady stream of casual customers simply want a striking conversation piece for the den, man cave, or office.
