Description
This is a genuine Greek military-issue M42-pattern mountain rucksack, built on the classic US M-1942 mountain pack design that saw service with alpine and airborne troops. Issued to Greek forces and pulled from long-term stores, each pack is an authentic piece of Cold War-era field kit — not a reproduction. Expect honest signs of service: faded canvas, storage marks, scuffed leather, and patina on the hardware. That character is exactly what collectors, reenactors, and vintage-gear buyers are looking for.
Constructed from heavyweight olive cotton canvas over an internal metal frame, the M42 rucksack has real capacity for extended time in the field. The oversized main compartment closes with a drawstring and storm flap, secured by a generous top flap with leather-reinforced strap tabs. Three external cargo pockets — two on the sides and one large pocket on the front — handle mess kit, rations, layers, and small tools. External lash straps across the flap and lower body let the user strap on a bedroll, shelter half, rope, or a folded jacket.

Who It Sells To
A strong stock item for surplus stores, militaria dealers, and outdoor retailers. Appeals to WWII and Cold War collectors, living-history reenactors, bushcrafters and traditional campers who prefer canvas over synthetics, vintage-military enthusiasts, and end users who want a rugged, character-rich rucksack with real provenance rather than a modern remake.
Condition
Used / issued condition. Each rucksack has been through military service and storage, so expect variation between pieces: fading, minor stains, small repairs, and wear on straps and hardware are normal and reflect the authentic history of the item.
