Description
The USGI Black Trifold Shovel is genuine U.S. military-issue entrenching gear — the same folding shovel that has been carried in ruck straps and vehicle kits by American troops for decades. This is authentic surplus that has served in the field, not a look-alike, making it a strong stock item for customers who insist on the real deal.
Built around a stamped steel blade with a matte black protective finish, the shovel folds into three positions via a robust locking collar at the neck. Loosen the collar to unfold the blade straight for digging, lock it at 90° to use as a pick or hoe, or fold the whole tool flat for compact storage in a pack, trunk, or gear locker. The triangular D-handle gives a solid two-hand grip and doubles as a stable pommel when driving the blade with palm pressure.
Field-Proven Utility
One edge of the blade is aggressively serrated for sawing through roots, small branches, and packed debris, while the opposing edge and tip stay smooth for clean digging, trenching, and scraping. It's the tool of choice for digging fighting positions, cat-hole latrines, fire pits, tent stakes, snow work, and vehicle recovery. Preppers, overlanders, hunters, and campers all reach for the trifold because it does the work of a shovel, a pick, and a saw in one folded package.
Who It Sells To
- Military surplus collectors and reenactors seeking authentic USGI-issue kit
- Preppers and bug-out-bag builders who want a proven, compact digging tool
- Overlanders and off-roaders stocking recovery and camp gear in the vehicle
- Hunters and campers needing a trail-tough shovel that folds small
- Airsoft and MilSim players kitting out authentic loadouts
Condition
Used, genuine-issue condition. Expect honest field-use character — surface scuffs, minor finish wear on the blade edges, and hardware patina consistent with real service use. Function is intact: the tri-lock collar tightens down and the blade holds its position under load. This is the appeal of true surplus — a tool with a service history, not a factory-fresh replica.
